1st Day of School

Today was our first day of school! A lot of mixed feeling went into today. I was not ready for them to go back. It felt like we just had our last day not too long ago and now I have to send them back!? just not ready for summer to end.
We did have a quite busy.. no, exciting... no, dramatic... Yes dramatic summer.
We had 2 graduate last year!
And the Samantha gets married... in Texas.... (a long story, for another day). And then moved to Texas a week later....

All the kids' birthdays are during the summer. My niece Kenzie, June 9th

And then Samantha, July 4th
And then Everett, July 22
And then Isaak, Aug 6
And then comes Drew, Aug 18th
and Randy, Aug 26th
But I haven't got a chance to do their photo shoot yet.

So this brings me to today... 1st Day of School. With only 3 left, this house is feeling awfully empty at times.

Yup, a 7th grader, a Junior, & a Senior.
Next week, we are taking the other graduate, Jeremy, to New York to drop him off at college. He will be attending Hofstra University. (A donation box is on my front porch, so feel free to stop by).

So there's my note for the day, hope you enjoy the read.

Until next time...

Kandi Perez Photography

Well look at me! Two days in a row for a blog!
Today I wanted to share my photography with you. I've been dabbling in it for a few years and trying to make it into a paying hobby. I still consider myself an amateur, but I think I'm getting better. I just recently discovered how to use my external flash (which was a gift this past Christmas).
Luckily my subjects have been my children and family members so they've been real patient with me as I learn the setting on my camera. But last month I got to do a friends wedding. That was fun. I didn't enjoy trying to find the right shot while getting a lot of bad shots, and being mindful of the guest by not being in their view.
This whole experience is outside my comfort box and its really hard for me so say "sure let me take your pictures and you pay me for some crappy shots"!
I've been doing a lot of research on how to be a better photographer and everywhere I read says "to find your niche", just not sure what that is. When I do take pictures, I tend to do a lot of portraits, so that must be my niche.
I dream of venturing out and having my own studio; I recently got to take my niece to her first studio session where she got dress like a mermaid, she called it Ariel mermaid, but she was just a blue-green pretty mermaid. She had so much fun, talked about that for weeks! The lady had made her basement into a studio where she had the ocean backdrop and real sand and all sorts of props.

So I had the thought of having one of those old Victorian style houses and making each room its own theme. And an old ford pick up in the back yard and old 20's convertible in the other corner. How cool would that be!?
So anyway thought I would post a few of my photos....

I have a Facebook page here's the link Kandi Perez Photography.

So if you like what you see, like the page and/or pictures. and message me to take your pics, I'm not a professional but I enjoy it and try to do my best and I promise not to charge an arm and a leg! Haha!

Till next time.....

My Christmas album. It has 12 pages, 6 chipboard and 6 envelopes. Christmas time at our house always means my camera is out, taking lots of pictures, so if your like me, this album will hold a lot of your photos.

Day 2

Tonight we made Tile Coasters. This one was a lot of fun too.

From left to right; Everett (top&bottom), (top)-Sami, (bottom)-Isaak, (top)-Nikki, (bottom)-Sami, (top&bottom)-Mine, (top)-Nikki, and (bottom)-Ben.

Isaak and Ben only made 1 each so I think they will do their second one when the other 3 kids does theirs.

December Daily 2013

Well, it's that time of year, time for my December Daily. I somewhat did one last year but never really finished it. This year is gonna be different. This year I have plans of a craft a day for my 25 Days of Christmas.

So here we go.....

Day 1    Candy Cane Sleighs

The kids had a blast putting these sleighs together.
From left to right; Isaak, mine, Sami, Nikki, Everett, and Ben.
We didn't have the other 3 kids when we did this so they will have to play catch-up when they come over.

25 Days of Christmas

25 Days of Christmas

Day 10

Got to have my favorite niece ans nephew over for the day. My sister had to work so I got the privilage of babysitting them. They are so fun to have over. Drew LOVES Harry Potter so we got to watch Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows Pt 2 the documentary/commentary version. Kenzie just followed Sami everywhere she went, played in the nail polish. It was a good day. That evening we went to church like we like we always do on Saturday night. Ran into and old friend and found out that has been attending for the last few Sattirday nights and plans on turning it into a routine so I told her we'll have to sit together when she comes.

Day 11

This was the day all the kids had been waiting on. We traveled 45 minutes to the other side of Sand Springs to a farm called Peasent Valley. This is wehere we cut our own Christmas Tree. I look forward to this all year. A tradition Ben and I started 5 years ago. The first time we went there was snow on the ground.

And 5 years later.....

They even had Santa there and everyone got a turn to sit on Sant's lap, even Nikki did. It was so cute that everytime Santa thought Everett was done with his list he would go to give him a candy cane Everett would start again with listing what he wanted. Finally I had to just tell him to stop and let someone else take a turn.

It turned out to be a very eventfull day.
Till Tomorrow....
